Welcome to 'TonyTraverso.com'
Thank you for stopping by my little website. This website is a work in progress and is actually being hosted from a tiny little Linux based NAS/web server in my office at my home in Petaluma. Yes this web page you are reading right now is sitting in a little server on my desk in my home office. I have been tinkering with web servers and web page design for quite a few years now, and decided to host my website directly from my house instead of through a hosting service.
The DNS for my domain name "TonyTraverso.com", is handled through a company called "No-IP.com". They are one of very few domain name registrars that provide a way for people who don't want to pay for a static IP address through their ISP, to have the DNS for their domain name constantly updated automatically through a program on their home router. I originally started using NO-IP.com because I didn't want to pay for static IP's, but since signing up with Comcast Business class internet I ended up getting a 5 block of static IP addresses assigned to me so using NO-IP.com to handle the old dynamic DNS is really not needed anymore. However I'll stay with them in the event I ever go back to a dynamic ip.
I have a "ASUS RT-N16" router, with "TomatoUSB" firmware installed. The TomatoUSB firmware has built-in capabilities to connect with No-IP.com and constantly, and automatically update the No-IP.com DNS servers (which I don't use anymore with the Comcast Business Internet). This way my domain name, "TonyTraverso.com", is always pointing to my home modems non-static IP address so you can access my little web server and, home page 24/7. The main problem from hosting a website at home is that if the power goes out at my house, so does access to my website... also anything you decided to download from me should download fairly quickly for you because you are downloading through a very fast Comcast Business modem which can upload to your computer at 40 Mbps...
If you have time ...
... and you want to find out what I have been up to in my crazy life, check out my facebook page which I update on a regular basis. If you have any questions, feel free to email me, and I will try my best to get back to you in a timely fashion. If you would like any professional computer repair, I am happy to do so for a negotiable fee (provided I have the time on my hands).
Life, Art, Gaming & Music Recording
People who know me may remember that I grew up in dreary old Stockton California (which by the way I don't miss). I live in Petaluma California now, but I am pretty much the same person you remember just older and getting much grayer. I still like to collect records, draw and play video games and lately I have been recording music in my little home studio I like to call 'Cramped Room Studios'. I use Apple GarageBand '09 for recording, but more recently I stepped up to Apple Logic Express 9. I really enjoy writing and producing my own music on my Mac computer. I feel so good being able to get my feelings and emotions into a song. It's nice to be able to sit back and listen to something you have created. If you have time check out my MacJams music page which has songs that I have recorded that you can listen to. Also in 'Cramped Room Studios' I build custom built Fender Guitar and Bass Clones. I have some pictures of my builds posted there so check it out. I've been building guitars and basses now for about a year. It is a hobby that keeps my hands busy.
I still spend most of my time playing and working with computers. My last job was working for Novato Unified School District as a Computer Support Technician. I left that job in May of 2009 to pursue other interests. I am married to a wonderful girl named Julie who is the love of my life. When I get bummed out and start seeing the glass half empty, I look at her and I'm reminded of what a very lucky man I truly am.
Lastly...
If you haven't talked to me in awhile send me an email and say hello!
